Dyslexia testing for teenagers?

I think I might have dyslexia, but my mom does not think so. If I went to the school counselor to ask about testing, he would probably email her and she would tell me that I was just being dramatic. Is there a way to either test without her finding out until I get the results, or to convince her to let me test?

It's not just that she whole heatedly doesn't think I could be dyslexic. She also didn't believe me or my father when we were both clinically depressed.Dyslexia testing for teenagers?
Are you having trouble with reading, writing and spelling etc?

Do you get headaches or tire while reading?

Do you have trouble writing, or mixing up letters such as ';d'; %26amp; ';b';, and have messy hand writing, even though it took you ages to write?

Is there a family history of dyslexia?

There are many aspects to dyslexia, and it can affect each person a little differently, some people may only have a weakness in just reading, others have problems with reading, writing and spelling etc.

The link below gives a fairly comprehensive list of signs and symptoms of dyslexia.

Has the school ever raised any concerns, to you or your parents about your ability to read, write, spell etc? If the school has raised some concerns about you, then they can organize for testing with an Educational Psychologist.

Be wary of online testing as they are not conclusive, they should only be used as a guide. The online tests below are both OK, and worth looking at.

A optometrist cannot test for dyslexia unless specially trained, with accreditation as such, so be very wary.

Irlens dyslexia clinics also test for dyslexia too, and I have included a link to their link.

Both my daughter and I are dyslexic, which was diagnosed by a E.P and confirmed by a Irlens consultant.Dyslexia testing for teenagers?
If your still in public school you can try asking to get tested, but many public schools do not have specialist in Dyslexia. You can try going to a local psychologist and get tested, just beware that can get expensive. The link below is to a website of a specialist in dyslexia. It provides many of the symptoms of dyslexia. Also if you email them they'll give you a list of certified dyslexia testers/tutors. There are also other websites, some are official, real information websites, others are just gimmicks and don't work at all..
Ok this will work drop down in ALL your classes then you will be doing so bad the school will phone your mum and then you can take the test and if you dont have it gradually get good marks again
