Why would teenagers commit crimes?

Why would teenagers commit crimes, how do you think their parents can control or basically help them stay away from crimes? 10 points for the best answer. Why would teenagers commit crimes?
In my area, drugs are the main reason for crimes.

The steal to get money for their habit, and they fight over rights to control drug trade.

You prevent your child from getting involved by educating them about the dangers of drugs. Why would teenagers commit crimes?
As a younger teenager, I made plenty of mistakes, and most of them included vandalism. The worst was a window that me and my friends broke, but eventually got caught. That lesson taught us pretty well, because the police came, and we had to pay for a 1200 dollar window. Peer pressure was definitely a factor, plus the feeling of breaking something is always entertaining. After that experience, we faced the majority of our teen years, but learned that funny, cheeky pranks are better than destructive vandalism. That was because, if we got caught, a fine would be minimal or non-existent, plus we did not break anything to replace. Peer pressure, fun, pissing off old people, and other similar things are factors.
I personally dont think that their parents can controll them at that age, i think alot of it has to do with peer pressure and wanting to look and act ';cool';. I think they need to live and learn from their mistakes and that the parents shouldnt bail them out of everything they get into then maybe they would think twice next time
You cant help a teenager who is constantly in touch with the wrong crowd. As a teenager, its fun to be mischievous and the feeling of getting away with a crime gives them a high...They will escalate the crimes to serious offences in order to maintain that high....Its kind of like a druggie
