Why do teenagers get taxed if they dont get to vote.?

i get a lot of money token out of my paycheck due to taxes. now granted that some of it goes to soc. sec. but some of it also goes to the government. yet since we cant vote we have no say in how our money gets spent. why do we get taxed but we don't get to decide who determines how our money is spent. Why do teenagers get taxed if they dont get to vote.?
If you're a full time student and not claimed as a dependant by your parents, you don't actually pay federal income tax. You'll get it all back in April when you file. And despite not having a vote, everyone living in this country is actually receiving benefits from tax dollars. I wouldn't be too upset about it if I were you, unless you're in a battleground state your vote doesn't count anyways. Why do teenagers get taxed if they dont get to vote.?
Good Point! ';Taxation without representation'; was the cause of both the English and American Revolution.

Until the 1840s, only White Male Property Owning Taxpayers could vote. Then they de-coupled things and allowed people who didn't pay property tax to vote and took the right away from non-citizens and felons. Later, former slaves and women got the right to vote, but everyone was taxed. I remember when the voting age was 21 and you could be drafted and forced to go to war at 18 so they lowered the voting age and the drinking age. But 18 year olds didn't vote as a block, so they lost the right to drink. In some countries they are considering lowering the voting age to 16.

After all, the real problem is getting people of any age to vote and getting politicians to listen to voters who don't have tons of campaign money to lavish on them.
Well consider it payment for the schooling you received up to this point, payment for the transportation infrastructure you utilized in getting to work, the law enforcement that has a presence in the area so you don't get robbed while working at work and fire department that is ever ready to help should an emergency arise at your work or even your home, payment for the public works projects that make your comfort at work possible (consider how crappy your workplace would be without running water, sewer, electricity and other basic utilities we often take for granted) and consider it payment for the protection to keep you from being exploited as not only an employee but a young employee.

So your taxes go towards at least a few things you really don't want to be without, consider the taxes you pay as payment towards those essential services you enjoy. Then when you finally are of the age to vote hopefully you'll become involved and want a say in how and where you're tax dollars are spent.
Use to complain about the same thing. but if you think of it, you work what 20 hours from 16 to 18 at the most. you can use that towards social security.

there are many things you cant do like drink but you can enlist in the army. the us is sort of messed up that way.

but also most 16 have no clue how to make important opinions on how to run a country. Most. There are some that are probably better than some adults, but you have to draw a line somewhere, because there will always be an exception.

you will be old soon, don't fret! it happens faster than you think!!! and it sucks! now 23..and dont' know where the time went.
even those that vote get very little to say about where our tax dollars go. even though you can't vote, you still take advantage of those tax dollars like driving on the roads they built and the protection they provide for you. Plus you should get most or all of it back at the end of the year so I wouldn't complain too much.
Voting is one of the greatest powers any citizen can hold; in our own past certain people (women, ethnic minorities, etc.) have been denied this right because it was believed that these people weren鈥檛 intelligent or capable. Today we have this right, and this election will probably be the most important election we have ever taken part in. It is important that we take advantage of this right because the power is in our hands. 鈥?Alonso Brito.

I used to ask this same question when I was younger. I used to complain about it as well. Now that I am 27 I have realized you are still living here and everyone needs to pay and save for their future. That is a lesson some other adults I know should have learned as a child. Life is not fair, but living here and paying taxes is much better then the alternative.
Because part of the money taken out is for your social security. The sooner you start paying into it, the more you will draw after you retire. Besides, those of us who do vote have no say as to how the money is spent either, and you will get a portion of what you pay back.
cause our government is so deep in sh-- that they need all the money they can get! i dont mean wading through it, i mean, fill the worlds oceans with it and thats about where we are! did you know it costs over 2 billion dollars a DAY to keep troops in Iraq?
you know that is a good point, if you pay taxes at 14 15 or 16, you should be able to vote, you are right, and i am 44 years old
i dont know im 16 and just got my paycheck about 5 minutes ago and they took out about 20 bucks out of my pay most of it went to medicare with is fine cause old people need it but the state doesnt need my money
Because (some) teenagers are smart enough to do certain menial jobs, but are generally not smart enough to decide who leads the country. Sorry, kiddo.
And you get it all back too, when you file you taxes.

The people we vote for don't quite determine how our money is spent.
Welcome to the working class.
that my friend, is an EXCELLENT question !
