Why do teenagers join groups?

Not like dangerous gangs but you know those girls/or guys that join those groups with 3 letter abbreviations like L.C.I or T.Y.M or X.M.Whatever letter comes next. It's those little teenager gangs that usually host foam parties or serve alcohol to underage kids that are 13-17? A lot of teenagers are in it and everyone wants to be in one. Why do teenagers join them and what do they do that makes it so important? Why do teenagers join groups?

It's fun to join the Y M C AWhy do teenagers join groups?
To belong and fit in. Teenagers want to do what others are doing. They want to be popular. There is pressure to join and be like the other students. I don't say all teenagers because there are some who won't conform. Believe it or not, there are teenagers who will not join groups. Every adolescent is different.
Peer pressure, insecurity ( they are still developing identity as an individual ), mass psychology ( feeling safe in groups )...
To feel involved to fit in, to make friends and do something they think is fun. Ask some of these teens in the group.
I guess they want to be apart of something.
because of peer pressure
