Why are American teenagers so hung over appearance and the opposite sex?

When other kids their age are still trying to come out of their childhood years, Americans have started to ';age'; mentally.Why are American teenagers so hung over appearance and the opposite sex?
It's not just America. I live in Britain and was appalled when I was out shopping and saw a bra...for a 5 year old!! Also some of the clothes are just dreadful too. I've seen little girls out with their mothers wearing knee high boots, mini skirts and boob tubes. The mind boggles!Why are American teenagers so hung over appearance and the opposite sex?
You forgot to include they are attracted to the same sex too.





It's not only American teenagers it's all teenagers. Blame it on lack of good parenting skills, the media, esteem issues and ';it's all a part of growing up.';

it's not only Americans that are like that. it's other nationalities too. everyone's like that, trust me!! cause they're horny little f.u.ck.s haha..no i'm kidding, cause they're at that age, where they start being sexual...
They are (most of them) are just rich asses.They havent seen or not seeing any real life,all they care about is pumped muscles, flat abs booby ladies.its a good example of how corporations,media can manipulate humans and use them ,really they are inside some MATRIX
They see it on tv as so designed by American advertising companies.
The sad thing is, don't expect people to outgrow it. It is the way the world works. Elderlys even do it.
If teenagers do not have to worry about getting food, staying warm, clothing, and other necessities, they will be able to concentrate on their other 'needs'. On a backward Indian Reservation in Montana, most of the Indian kids quit studying in the sixth grade. Most all the girls were having their first baby in their middle teens and not married. Their basic needs are taken care of from the cradle to the grave!!
Its because they feel as though they need to impress the opposite sex so they seem wanted... feeling wanted is the whole point.. feeling like someone wants you and that you blend in with the crowd... thats what its about... when they older though, they tend to not care anymore
Ah, are you saying that only American teenagers are interested in looks and in the opposite sex's looks? If so, I think you need to do some traveling.

most teens are actually like this...not just american teens. but in america it just might be alittle worse because of the media.
Actually all teenagers generally act the same way. This is not only a product of culture but also brain development. Teenagers still tend to think that the world is focused on them, and anything, a pimple, a hair out of place, can ruin their outlook on life.
